CORONAVIRUS | False claims that the clothing of Covid-19 victims would be sold in a bundle sale is among the fake news items that the Communications and Multimedia Ministry's quick response team has exposed.
In a statement today, the Pasukan Respons Pantas said that the National Security Council has denied claims it was to carry out a bundle sale of clothing belonging to victims who had died of Covid-19.
The statement also cited Bank Negara as having issued a statement to deny a false claim that it was freezing credit and debit card payment for non-essentials items starting March 27 until the expiry of the movement control order (MCO).
In another debunked item, the Segamat Hospital in Johor denied that its wards were being used to accommodate Covid-19 patients.
This is although it has been gazetted as a screening hospital for the coronavirus.
It only houses non-Covid 19 patients, it said.
The quick response team has been regularly issuing clarifications on fake news related to the outbreak of the coronavirus which thus far has claimed 27 lives in Malaysia. - Mkini
