CORONAVIRUS | The founder of Country Heights Holdings Bhd Lee Kim Yew chartered a plane which brought in 1.5 million pieces of masks and personal protection equipment (PPE) to help frontliners yesterday.
Lee said the ongoing movement control order (MCO) was only a temporary solution to the battle against Covid-19.
Malaysians will need masks and strict rules to prevent the spread of Covid-19 after the MCO.
"We have to be equipped with a mask when we travel outside after this MCO session.
"I would like to announce after 10 days of hard work, I have chartered a plane to fly in 1.5 million masks and PPE," he wrote on his Facebook page.
Lee said he has started an initiative called Bantu-bantu Malaysia, headquartered out of the re-purposed ballroom of the Palace of the Golden Horses, as a distribution hub.
"A mask is the best preventive measure to stop the spread of Covid-19. If it becomes a law, then maybe it is an opportunity to replace the lockdown," said Lee.

Primarily, surgical masks capable of capturing droplets will reduce the chances of the wearer passing viruses to others.
Malaysia is in short supply of masks since the Covid-19 outbreak began.
The country has six producers, but they are hampered by the lack of raw material which has to be imported.
Meanwhile, China has donated another batch of medical equipment to the National Disaster Management Agency yesterday.
According to Health Ministry director-general Noor Hisham Abdullah, the consignment includes 100,000 test kits, 100,000 pieces of N95 mask, 500,000 surgical masks, 50,000 PPE and 200 ventilators.
