MACC today says that its official Twitter account, which seemed to have been 'deactivated' since yesterday, is encountering a technical issue.
In a statement, the anti-graft agency denied that they have closed down the account but stressed that the technical issue was on the part of the social media platform provider and it is being addressed.
"On claims that MACC official Twitter account @SPRMMalaysia was deactivated, we would like to explain that this happened due to technical issues faced by Twitter since yesterday.
"Following this, MACC has lodged a report with Twitter on the same day, and the issue is now being addressed for recovery and improvement.
"Thus, claims by certain quarters that MACC had deactivated our official Twitter account is not true," the agency said in a statement.
The anti-graft body also urged the public not to speculate especially on matters that concern MACC's integrity and image.
As of 8.40am today, checks on the social media platform find that MACC’s Twitter account has yet to be back online.
Twitter had been abuzz since Monday when several netizens, including opposition politicians, pointed out that the MACC official account had been “deactivated”. - Mkini
