Senior citizen who fled Bunut Susu EMCO went on to infect seven others

A senior citizen from Bunut Susu sub-district who fled the area before the implementation of an enhanced movement control order (EMCO) is believed to have spread the Covid-19 to seven other individuals.

Kelantan state Health Department director Dr Zaini Hussin said the 60-year-old senior citizen was said to have moved quickly to her family member's house in Pulau Beluru, Tumpat, in the days running up to the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations.

A total of 235 people from three villages in Bunut Susu in Pasir Mas, Kelantan have tested positive after the completion of their first Covid-19 screening last week.

According to Zaini, the matter was revealed after the woman was not found in her village despite her name being on the list of residents. Officials were then informed that she was at a family member's house in Tumpat.

“Following that, we instructed the Tumpat district Health Office to track her down for screening.

"The results of the swab test were done on the second day of Hari Raya and she was confirmed positive for Covid-19," he said at a press conference while reviewing the implementation of the enhanced MCO at Kampung Pauh Lima in Bachok Kelantan today.

Zaini said his party also found that the senior citizen had spread the virus to seven members of her family in Tumpat.

"We found out that she left the village after hearing that an enhanced MCO would be implemented, this apart from wanting to celebrate Aidilfitiri.

"We are still tracking the close contacts of this senior citizen for screening tests," he added. - Mkini
