PETALING JAYA: A 21-year-old man in Jempol, Negeri Sembilan, was fined RM2,000 for breaching movement restrictions by visiting a graveyard during Aidiladha yesterday.

Harian Metro quoted Jempol district police chief Hoo Chang Hook as saying the man was caught by police at about 11.40am at the Felda Palong 12 and 13 Muslim cemetery. He was there with his niece and nephew.

Hoo said people were not allowed to visit graves and that the man was fined under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act (Act 342).

According to the Aidiladha SOPs released by the National Security Council (MKN), house visits, grave visits, open houses and festive feasts are not allowed nationwide.

However, mosques in all states under Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the national recovery plan were allowed to hold prayers and animal sacrifices, with adherence to Covid-19 SOPs. - FMT
