SHAH ALAM: A lawyer representing Samirah Muzaffar and two teenagers in the murder trial of Cradle Fund CEO Nazrin Hassan was involved in a scuffle with press photographers before today’s hearing at the High Court here.
S Suresh was accompanying Samirah and other lawyers into the court when they were surrounded by photographers trying to take pictures, with the police telling them to make way for the group.
Suresh was allegedly seen pushing a photographer’s camera away from him, and the photographer was said to have retaliated and kicked him.
Another photographer was alleged to have shoved Suresh as he entered the hallway to the court. The lawyer was said to have approached the first photographer and grabbed the media card which was attached to a lanyard around his neck.
It is understood the photographer will be filing a police report.
The High Court later freed Samirah and the two teenagers of the murder charge, with judge Ab Karim Ab Rahman ruling that the prosecution had failed to prove a prima facie case against them.
Samirah, 47, and the two teenagers, now aged 19 and 16, and an Indonesian woman, Eka Wahyu Lestari, who is at large, were charged on March 12, 2019 with murdering Nazrin at his house in Mutiara Damansara between 11.30pm on June 13, 2018 and 4am the following day. - FMT
