Court dismisses Human Rights Party’s bid to be registered as political party

KUALA LUMPUR - The High Court (Appelate and Special Powers) dismissed on Tuesday the judicial review application by lawyer, P. Uthayakumar to have Human Rights Party (HRP) registered as a political party.

Justice Rohana Yusof dismissed the application, with a cost of RM 2,500, on the grounds that the Registrar of Societies (ROS) had replied giving the grounds of rejection that had made the application academic.

ROS, in a letter dated Aug 4 to Uthayakumar, declined his application on two grounds, saying the HRP failed to fullfill the requirements of ROS.
