The electricity bill for Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's official Seri Perdana residence came up to more than RM 2.2 million in 2012.
This was revealed in a written reply from Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Shahidan Kassim to DAP's Seremban MP Anthony Loke recently.
In a press conference today, Loke claimed the figures mean that the total combined expenditure on electric bills’ for both the Seri Perdana and the Deputy Prime Minister's official Sri Satria residence, had shot up 40 percent in the last two years.

This, Loke claimed, was based on a written answer given to another opposition member two years ago, which showed that the combined electricity bill for both Sri Perdana and Sri Satria came up to RM6,000 a day.
The same calculation now comes up to RM8,500 a day according to the latest figures, Loke said.
“How can the PM ask people to be more prudent when he is a big spender himself?” Loke asked.
Loke also said that while the White House itself only sits on a 18-acre land, Sri Perdana sits on a massive 42.5 acre land, which means it is more than twice the size of the White House.
Sri Satria sits on a 18.6 acre land, making it sized similarly to the White House.
The PM’s residence also spent RM 311,174 on water bills for the year 2012.
The DPM’s residence spent RM 865,458 on its electricity bill, and RM 99,264 on the water bills.
All the expenses in the PM’s and DPM’s official residences are borne by the taxpayers.
