Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (Isma) believes that its attacks against the DAP agenda are the main reason that its president Abdullah Zaik Abdul Rahman has been dragged to court on a sedition charge.
After Abdullah, the movement's vice-president Muhammad Fauzi Asmuni warned today, that there would be other "victims" who would be hauled to court on different charges.
Abdullah Zaik was today charged with labelling Chinese Malaysians as ‘intruders’ in the Isma website on May 6.
Although DAP’s Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng (left) was one of several quarters to have lodged police reports against Abdullah Zaik over the latter’s comment, Fauzi claimed that the court action taken was based on Lim’s report.
He then questioned if there was a hidden hand behind Lim’s act of making the report, saying the word “intruder” was merely an excuse to victimise the Isma chief.
“This is not a clash between two individuals but a clash between a destroyer of social contract and the constitution against those defending the constitution and the position of Malays (and) Islam (in the country),” he said in a statement.
Fauzi claimed DAP targeted Abdullah Zaik because Isma, the Pembela coalition and other Muslim NGOs had opposed purported evangelist and liberal agendas, claims by the Inter-Faith Commission (IFC) and Coalition of Malaysian NGOs (Comango) as well as alleged efforts by DAP to change the Federal Constitution.
"The important question is - movers of Islamic NGOs, leaders of Islamic parties, Islamic intellectuals and public figures and the Muslim community at large - on whose side should they be on?" he asked.
