An Utusan Malaysia photographer was assaulted by two men whose family member faced a death sentence at Kota Bharu High Court today.
Utusan reported that the unnamed photographer was assaulted while taking photographs of Zaruna Yusof, 43, who was sentenced to death for drug trafficking.
The photographer sustained injuries while his camera was smashed in the assault.
Zaruna, a tailor, was found guilty of trafficking 54.72 grammes of heroin at the car park of Stadium Sultan Muhammad IV a year ago.
Earlier this month, The Malay Mail editor Frankie D'Cruz was assaulted by unknown men, who told him to “stop ruining businesses by writing further reports".
D'Cruz was assaulted in Taman Danau Desa, Kuala Lumpur.
The daily had in May published reports on restaurant owners taking up parking spots and five-foot ways with tables, chairs and illegal extensions at Taman Danau Desa.
It is unclear if the assault was related, D'Cruz said.
