Dr M's crystal ball foretells AG will ignore findings on RM2.6b, SRC

Dr Mahathir Mohamad believes that the findings concerning the RM2.6 billion political donation and SRC International's RM42 million which were transferred into Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's personal accounts will hit a brick wall in the Attorney-General's Chambers.
According to the former prime minister's crystal ball, attorney-general Mohamed Apandi Ali will disregard the probe papers submitted by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on the two issues.
He claimed that if Apandi (photo) could previously reject Bank Negara's report on 1MDB , the same could happen again
“I think he (Apandi) would reject it (MACC’s report) too. But this is just my prediction,” he told FMT in an exclusive interview.
“I believe Bank Negara had submitted their report (on 1MDB) before and Bank Negara is not some institution without rules.
“They made detailed investigation on it and had certain evidence which required the case be brought to court. But the AG rejected it blindly.
“So I would not be surprised if the AG rejects this (MACC’s report) too,” he said.
Apandi had been appointed AG after his predecessor Abdul Gani Patail was suddenly dropped from the post due to health reasons last year.
The move ignited speculation that Abdul Gani was on the verge of hauling the prime minister to court, which the authorities denied.
Najib had also replaced his deputy, Muhyiddin Yassin and another minister Mohd Shafie Apdal, who were critical of 1MDB.
Force Najib to step down
Mahathir has been on a campaign to force Najib to step down, accusing the prime minister, who was once his protege, of numerous misdeeds.
The former premier has also dismissed the argument that the RM2.6 billion transferred ahead of the last general election in 2013 was a donation from a Middle Eastern source, whose identity continues to remain a mystery.
Meanwhile, the Finance Minisistry-owned and former 1MDB subsidiary SRC International funds, which observers claim is the more damaging revelation, was transferred in 2014 and last year,
Najib has denied any wrongdoing and accused Mahathir of being part of a plot to topple him.
On Dec 31, MACC announced it had submitted three investigation papers to the AG – two papers related to the probe on SRC International and another on the RM2.6 billion political donation. -Mkini
