IPOH: M Kula Segaran will work with Zaid Ibrahim to produce a documentary on M Indira Gandhi’s bitter custody battle with her Muslim-convert ex-husband, who converted the couple’s three children to Islam without her knowledge.
Kula, who is Indira’s legal counsel, said he would meet the former law minister this week to discuss details on funding and filming of the documentary.
The DAP vice-chairman told FMT today, “It is important the documentary on Indira’s custody battle be filmed for the international community.
“The world must know the plight of this suffering mother, caused by unilateral conversion of her children without her knowledge, let alone consent.
“It’s likely we would produce it,” said Kula, who hailed Zaid’s proposal as timely and crucial.
Kula also said people today were more inclined to get their information through visual and audio media rather than print.
Meanwhile, he revealed Indira would file an appeal with the Federal Court for her case to be heard in the highest court of the land, “come what may”. He said, with finality, “She wants to complete her appeal process in civil court.”
Kula said Indira’s legal team would wait for written judgment from the Court of Appeal before filing a leave application to the apex court for the final appeal.
