Don't give up on Gerakan, MCA seats in Selangor, BN urged

Gerakan Bukit Gasing constituency coordinator Chai Ko Thing has urged BN not to sideline seats previously contested by Gerakan and MCA in Selangor.

Chai said the sentiment in Selangor BN has been to focus on certain seats in rural areas in order to win back Selangor.

"Urban seats contested by Gerakan and MCA were sidelined as they were deemed ‘black’ and difficult to win back," he said in a statement today.

Chai said this approach must be corrected, stressing that BN is capable of offering political representation and services to urbanites.

As such, Chai supported the statements of Selangor BN chairperson Noh Omar and deputy chairperson Mat Nadzari Ahmad Dahlan that there should be equal focus on both urban and rural areas.

Chai said BN must overcome selectivity and oversight issues that had caused the coalition to lose in urban seats in the last general election.

“BN must have the sincerity, courage and the will to approach urbanites and prove to them that we are a viable political choice and even better than Pakatan Harapan which has repeatedly failed the Selangorians on many occasions with poor and irresponsible governance,” he said.

He added that Selangor BN needs to be inclusive in its approach to voters in the state, with a focus on improving public welfare and living standards.- Mkini
