MACC chief commissioner Dzulkifli Ahmad and his new wife were absent from a marriage review case at the Kelantan Syariah High Court in Kota Bharu today.
According to a source, the review followed a complaint against their union made at a hotel in Kota Bharu on Jan 24.
Dzulkifli had allegedly failed to seek permission from the Syariah court before he entered into his second marriage.
The marriage came months after Dzulkifli was accused of having an affair with a lawyer, which he had decried as a smear against him.
The source said the chief commissioner's new wife is the same woman who was named as having an affair with him.
The Syariah court can impose various conditions before a Muslim man enters into a second marriage, including seeking consent from the first wife.
The review today was conducted under Section 9(3) of the Administration of the Syariah Court Enactment 1982.
Malaysiakini has reached out to Dzulkifli for comment and is awaiting a response. -Mkini
