MACC confirms no 1MDB funds found in PAS' account

The MACC today went on record to state that it has yet to find any 1MDB funds ending up in PAS' official bank account.
Malaysiakini, citing sources, had previously reported that the agency was unable to establish any links between the party's bank account and 1MDB.
MACC chief Mohd Shukri Abdull confirmed the matter in a press conference held in Kuala Terengganu today.
"MACC's investigation to date has not found the RM90 million in funds, supposedly originating from 1MDB, entering PAS' account," he said,
Shukri had earlier attended a ceremony to witness Terengganu assemblypersons signing integrity pledges at Wisma Darul Iman.
A source previously said the funds scrutinised by MACC were limited to the account officially registered with PAS, and not those of specific party leaders.
In a 2016 article, Sarawak Report claimed that PAS had received some RM90 million from Umno in a bid by then-prime minister Najib Abdul Razak to woo the Islamist party ahead of the 14th general election.
However, the report did not mention if the alleged deposits were made to the PAS official account or to specific leaders.
PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang had sued Sarawak Report editor Clare Rewcastle-Brown in a London court over the allegation, but retracted the suit earlier this month on grounds that it was too costly to sustain. - Mkini
