PUTRAJAYA: PAS secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan says he was called in by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to explain allegations stated in Sarawak Report editor Clare Rewcastle Brown's court documents.
Takiyuddin said he answered questions from investigators regarding allegations that he owned a fleet of cars, a luxury motorcycle and a personalised licence plate.
"I was only asked on those issues. They did not ask me to hand over any documents," he said when met after spending more than four hours at the MACC headquarters here Thursday (Feb 28).
He arrived at around 9.20am and left at 1.50pm.
Asked if he would be called in again, Takiyuddin said he did not think so as he had already signed his statement.
On Feb 1, PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang opted for an out-of-court settlement with Sarawak Report editor Clare Rewcastle Brown, who he had sued for libel over an article published on Aug 6, 2016, alleging that the party received RM90mil in bribes from Umno.
Brown filed a counterclaim in October 2017.
PAS cited high legal fees as one of the reasons for the out-of-court settlement.
The MACC has confirmed that it has yet to find any 1Malaysia Development Bhd funds in PAS' official bank accounts.- Star
