PETALING JAYA: Several areas in Seri Kembangan, Selangor, have been hit by flash floods after heavy rain this afternoon.
According to social media postings, Taman Lestari Putra and Equine Park were among the areas hit by floods, with photos and videos of muddy waters going viral.
Netizens also took to Facebook to complain of traffic jams in the area, believed to be caused by the flash floods.
Astro Radio’s traffic report said there were traffic jams lasting about an hour heading towards Pusat Bandar Putra Permai.
It also told commuters to expect delays on the PLUS highway from Asia Pacific University towards Country Heights due to possible stagnant water.
Universiti Putra Malaysia’s residential college, Kolej Canselor, was also affected by flash floods after the downpour.
UPM’s deputy vice-chancellor for student and alumni affairs, Arifin Abdu, said the heavy rain lasted for nearly two hours and led to waters flooding the residential college’s lobby and general office.
“Among the main causes of the floods was the main drainage, which was clogged up, but this has since been rectified,” he said. - FMT
