Amirudin takes over as PKR election director from Nurul Izzah

Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari has replaced PKR deputy president Nurul Izzah Anwar as the party’s election director.

Amirudin (above, right), who also serves as a PKR vice-president, will now work alongside Saifuddin Nasution Ismail in leading the election machinery.

Previously, Nurul Izzah had been appointed co-director with Saifuddin following last year’s PKR party election, succeeding Rafizi Ramli after she defeated him in the contest for the deputy presidency.

In a statement today, PKR secretary-general Fuziah Salleh said Nurul Izzah will maintain a strategic role, focusing on developing the party machinery’s capacity and steering PKR’s efforts towards a more robust and organised direction.

“This emphasis reflects the party’s commitment to investing in every individual at the grassroots level, ensuring that PKR’s strength continues to be built in a comprehensive, sustained, and deeply rooted manner across all levels.

“PKR recognises that its strength is not solely dependent on leadership at the central level, but also on the thousands of members in the field who work tirelessly, support, and engage with the community on a daily basis,” she added.

According to Fuziah, the PKR political bureau, which met yesterday, had agreed on these organisational adjustments to strengthen the party’s preparedness for the upcoming elections.

PKR has also appointed Azman Abidin, who is Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s political aide, as “director of war room” to strengthen strategic coordination, ground operations, and monitoring of election-related work.

“These appointments are part of the party’s strategic restructuring to ensure that PKR’s election preparations are streamlined, coordinated, and mobilised more effectively at all levels.

“This restructuring builds upon the foundation of previous efforts, including the enhancement of the election structure, coordination among states and branches, and increased utilisation of data, systems, and technology in field operations through the implementation of the Teras election system,” Fuziah added. - Mkini
