KUALA LUMPUR, May 25 — The Malaysian government is prepared to take the Zionist regime to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) once lawyers complete the collection of information and supporting evidence.
Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the legal action follows alleged acts of brutality, including kidnapping and torture involving activists from the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) 2.0 humanitarian mission, particularly Malaysian participants.
According to Utusan Malaysia, Amirudin said the move will be followed by continued diplomatic pressure by the government to demand the full liberation of Gaza.
“We will not remain silent, we will not stop. While the legal team gathers all documentation on violations of international law, they (GSF participants) were kidnapped more than once, they were tortured,” he said.
He added that Malaysia will pursue the matter at the international level while also continuing diplomatic efforts and nationwide outreach activities.
“We will bring this to the international court, we will continue diplomatic pressure, and we will also travel across Malaysia,” he said during the Global Sumud Flotilla 2.0 Homecoming Ceremony at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 on Monday night.
Amirudin said that although the GSF 2.0 mission has concluded, Malaysia’s and Selangor’s commitment to the Palestinian cause will continue.
He said there are plans to bring international conferences related to Palestine to Malaysia in the future to strengthen advocacy efforts.
He also said the initiative aligns with proposals by Sumud Nusantara Chief de Mission Muhammad Nadir Al-Nuri Kamarulzaman, who has called for the continuation of efforts through a future Sumud 3.0 mission to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
“GSF 2.0 moved stronger and faster, and this time we did not only come with teams at sea, but also participants on land through the Rafah crossing, and we have completed or are close to completing 30 containers that will be finalised soon,” he said.
He added that Sumud 3.0 will continue the struggle until the blockade on Gaza is lifted and global attention is renewed on the humanitarian crisis. - malaymail
