Motorcyclist allegedly hit by car going against traffic dies

 A driver had previously pleaded not guilty to a charge of drink-driving and causing serious injury to a p-hailing rider at Persiaran Kota in Klang on May 13.

Zulfiqar Zamir Amirul Nizam’s father said the family will pursue civil action against the driver and a writ of summons has been filed through their lawyer.

A motorcyclist who was seriously injured after being involved in an accident with a car allegedly going against traffic in Klang on May 13 died this afternoon.

Hamidah Othman, 51, said her son, Zulfiqar Zamir Amirul Nizam, 27, died at 4.28pm in the intensive care unit at Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital.

“We were called to the ward at about 7.30am today after the doctor informed us that my son’s condition had worsened.

“The hospital later informed us that Zulfiqar was in critical condition and fully dependent on a ventilator. His pulse later began to weaken,” Bernama reported her as saying.

Zulfiqar’s father, Amirul Nizam Abdul Aziz, 49, said the family would pursue civil action against the driver and that a writ of summons had been filed through their lawyer.

“We also contacted the investigating officer to inform the police of my son’s death so the investigation into the case could be updated accordingly,” he said.

On May 18, Low Kean Peng, 35, pleaded not guilty in the Klang magistrates’ court to a charge of drink-driving and causing serious injury to a p-hailing rider at Persiaran Kota in Klang at 12.35am on May 13.

The part-time event planner was accused of driving with a blood alcohol level of 196mg per 100ml, exceeding the legal limit of 146mg per 100 ml. - FMT
