Wrong-way Bezza driver sparks outrage in viral KL video

KUALA LUMPUR: A video of a Perodua Bezza driving against the flow of traffic on a busy road in the heart of the city has gone viral, sparking concern from netizens.

The 45-second clip, which is believed to have been captured via a dashcam, shows the car cutting through the middle of the road as motorcycles and cars swerve to avoid a head-on collision.

Despite the high volume of vehicles, the driver appeared undeterred, maneuvering the car with precision past several motorcyclists who were forced to make way.

In a final, high-risk move to escape the predicament, the driver is seen mounting the road divider.

The car successfully crossed over to the opposite side, finally joining the correct flow of traffic and driving away.

While the daring stunt caused significant alarm, no accidents or injuries were reported during the incident.

The video, which has since been shared across multiple social media platforms, drew a flurry of comments from frustrated Malaysians.

Many called for the authorities to take stern action, citing that such reckless behavior poses a grave danger to other road users.

"This is becoming a daily occurrence. Just because no accident happened doesn't mean it's okay. The authorities need to track this driver down before someone gets killed," wrote a netizen.

"The way the driver crossed the divider shows they knew exactly what they were doing, which makes it even more dangerous," said another user.

The New Straits Times has reached out to the Kuala Lumpur police department and are awaiting a response.

Under Section 42 of the Road Transport Act, those found guilty of reckless and dangerous driving can face imprisonment and a heavy fine.

The public is reminded to always adhere to traffic laws and prioritise the safety of themselves and others on the road. - NST
