The officer, driving a van, allegedly knocked down four-year-old Danial Gabrial Abdullah at Saujana Puchong.
The impact is said to have flung the victim 10 metres, after which the van ran over his leg.
The victim is currently under intensive care.
"It surprises me that no arrests have been made. This is what makes people edgy, especially since the alleged suspect is linked to the police force," he said after visiting the victim at Serdang Hospital today.
Gobind (right) says the victim's condition has improved and that doctors are more hopeful now that he has survived thus far.
In a press conference earlier today, Subang OCPD Asst Comm Zainal Rashid Abu Bakar said the 23-year-old officer, whose identity they did not reveal, in likelihood fled the scene of the accident without checking on the child, due to panic.
Zainal added that the man is a member of the canine unit based in Gemencheh, and has been working as a guard in a Felda estate for the past six months.
Contradictory reports
Danial's mother, Nor Saliha Mining, describes how the driver stopped and got out the car briefly, but sped off immediately when she yelled for help.
She said the driver returned about five minutes later with a friend, who took a look at the boy, but they sped off again when neighbours tried to stop them.
It is unclear if his friend is also an auxiliary police officer.
Zainal says they have recorded the driver's statement and taken blood samples to ascertain if he was under the influence of illegal substances.
He also said there were conflicting details between the driver's police report and Nor Saliha's.
The police is investigating the case as reckless driving under the Road Transport Act.
According to Gobind, several police officers visited the boy yesterday to ascertain his condition.
"I will write to OCPD Zainal to urge him to conduct a proper investigation and to make the arrest accordingly," he said.
