IGP Musa not sure if contract will be extended

Inspector-General of Police Musa Hassan said he was unsure if his contract, which expires on Sept 12, will be extended for athird time.

When door stopped by reporters at a function in Putrajaya today, Musa simply shrugged when asked about rumours of the extention.

"I have no idea about it," said Musa, before walking off.

Musa, 59, has previously had his contract extended for two years in 2007 and was further extended by one year in 2009.

The opposition cried foul over his extension due to his involvement in the Anwar Ibrahim sodomy trial in 1999.

Several of his remarks had also courted public criticism, most recently in April, when he apparently said the police would bepulled off the streets following outcry over the fatal police shooting of teenager Animulrasyid Amzah.
