Muhyiddin urges Batu Sapi: Place your trust in BN

SANDAKAN - Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said today that it was important for Batu Sapi voters to vote in the Barisan Nasional's (BN) candidate in Thursday's by-election in the parliamentary constituency because only the BN had a proven track record in bringing development for the people.

On the other hand, he said, the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) and Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) candidates contesting the by-election would not be able to do much because they did not represent the government.

"Choose the candidate who can deliver (the BN's). Even if Yong (Datuk Yong Teck Lee of SAPP) wins, there is nothing much he can do and the same goes for PKR's candidate Ansari Abdullah.

"Place your trust in Datin Linda Tsen Thau Lin (the BN's candidate) to continue the struggle of her late husband (Datuk Edmund Chong Ket Wah) to champion your cause," he said at a community gathering in Kampung Tronglit in Pulau Timbang near here Saturday.

He said Tsen, who would be acting for both the federal and state governments would be able to bring about more development for the people of Batu Sapi if she won the by-election.

Muhyiddin said the government was aware that much more needed to be done to help people living in rural areas including in providing piped water and electricity.

He said these two matters was being given emphasis by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and were core elements of the National Key Result Areas.

He added that Yong's "Sabah for Sabahans" campaign in the by-election did not hold any water because Sabah was part of Malaysia and that Sabah leaders were in the Cabinet while many other Sabahans held high posts in both the public and private sectors throughout Malaysia.

The by-election follows the death of Edmund Chong in a road accident on Oct 9.
