MAS delays flights to Kota Kinabalu due to airport closure

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 26 — Flag carrier Malaysia Airlines (MAS) has delayed some of our flights to and from Kota Kinabalu due to the temporary closure of Kota Kinabalu airport this morning.

Other flights to or from other destinations are expected to be slightly delayed, with some changes in the time schedule because of disruption of operations at Kota Kinabalu International airport. This is due to the disruption in air traffic services at Kota Kinabalu Airport, the airline said in a statement.

“We have to retime our flights because of temporary closure of the airport in Kota Kinabalu which was beyond our control. Some of our flights in and out of Kota Kinabalu will be retimed and all passengers are strongly urged to check with our call centres for the latest retiming for their convenience

“We are working very closely with the airport and all relevant civil aviation authorities to minimise any inconvenience” MAS director of operations Captain Azharuddin Osman said in the statement.

The airline urged its passengers who are booked on the flights to and from Kota Kinabalu to check the status of their flights via www.malaysiaairlines.com or to call the MAS Call Centre 1300-88-3000 (within Malaysia) or +603-7843 3000 (outside Malaysia) before leaving to the airport.

“Passengers can also check the flight status on their mobile phone by visiting flymas.mobi,” it added.
