Selangor’s objection to Khusrin is political, says Ahmad Zahid

Ahmad Zahid: The Selangor government has always been inconsistent because of over-politicking to the point of ignoring the state constitution.
BAGAN DATOH, Jan 2 — The Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR)-led Selangor government has its own agenda in protesting the appointment of Datuk Mohd Khusrin Munawi as the new State Secretary (SUK), said Umno vice president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

He said there was no constitutional crisis in regard to Khusrin’s appointment by the Chief Secretary to the Government (KSN) Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hassan, which has also received the consent of the Sultan of Selangor.

“The people should make their own judgment on the Selangor government’s move to protest the appointment. The Selangor government has always been inconsistent because of over-politicking to the point of ignoring the state constitution,” he told reporters after closing a personal development workshop that was attended by 230 students from Universiti Teknologi Mara’s (UiTM) Perak campus, here today.

Ahmad Zahid, who is also Defence Minister, said Khusrin’s appointment came under the purview of the KSN and did not conflict with either the federal or Selangor constitutions.

Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim has claimed that he has not been consulted over the appointment.
