Kelantan Oil: Should the AG be given the boot!

  1. Not unexpected, the Federal government today filed to be an intervener in the suit between the Kelantan state Government against Petroliam Nasional Bhd over oil royalty for oil found within Kelantan. I must say that the action by the government is very irresponsible and filled with political agendas.

  2. Again the 1-Malaysia PM has shown that his true interpretation on Malaysia. Somewhere along the lines, I believe our PM has forgotten that Kelantan is part of Malaysia and it is not a second class state. It status should not be different from Terengganu or any other oil producing states in Malaysia when it comes to the rights to oil revenue. The BN politicians have no business of using government machinery to be involved in the dispute.

  3. The Petroliam Development Act is very clear on the parties of signing the agreement. It is also very clear that the loss of sovereign wealth of the state is to be compensated with 5% revenue of the oil extracted. The Federal Government is not a signatory to the agreement. It is a matter between Kelantan SG and PETRONAS.

  4. Though from the point of law, it is very clear that the revenue belongs to the State, PETRONAS leadership has failed to honour its part of the agreement. Rumours among the staff of PETRONAS is that one of the reason on Tan Sri Hassan Merican departure from PETRONAS is because his insistence that the revenue must be paid. This does not jive well with the Chairman and some political appointee on the board. Unless Tan Sri comes forward and say something about it, then I guess it will stay as a rumour. Today he chose to work in Singapore rather than working for Malaysia.

  5. Today we see it again how AGC has shown that it does not have the spine to stand up to the political masters. It does not have the spine to do the right thing. How long should we let such people continue? Thousands of Kelantanese deserved to share every bit of the oil revenue. Between PAS and BN, I would trust that the 5% oil revenue will be spend properly people who is scared of God rather than someone who is scared of the PM. The Kelantanese born MP’s and ADUN should speak up irrespective of the party position. For this Ku Li earned my respect.
