Sungai Petani MP Johari Abdul wants the blogger "Papagomo" to show the full recording where he is alleged to have asked for money.
KUALA LUMPUR: PKR supreme council and Sungai Petani MP Johari Abdul today challenged Umno friendly blogger “Papagomo” to release the full recording made of him watching Anwar Ibrahim’s alleged sex video.
The pro-Umno blogger had recently claimed that Johari had asked “Datuk T”, the trio who released the video, for RM1 million to quit his party and posted a two-minute video clip showing Johari watching the sex video showing a man resembling Anwar having sex with a Chinese woman.
The trio are businessman and a former close associate of Anwar, Shazryl Eskay Abdullah, former Malacca Chief Minister Abdul Rahim Thamby Chik and former Perkasa treasurer and Johari’s uncle, Shuaib Abdul Lazim.
The blog posting commenting on the video also quoted Shazryl as saying that Johari had demanded RM100,000 in “advanced payment”, and that the PKR man had been paid half the amount.
Nothing in the video clip contains evidence to suggest he had asked for money.
Johari again denied admitting that he believed the man in the video was his party’s de facto leader, maintaining that nothing in the video suggested so and asked the blogger to explain why only a two-minute clip was shown.
“I am sure the video’s original length is more than that so I challenge him to produce the full length and show me which part of the video indicated that I had asked for money,” he told a press conference flanked by other PKR leaders who were invited by Datuk T to watch the video on June 24 last year.
Blood ties and friendship
Johari was the first PKR leader to be invited and had watched the video on June 22. He claimed to have been invited through his uncle Shuaib. Those invited including Johari is said to be in Anwar’s inner circle.
Titled “Johari Abdul admits the sex video actor is Anwar Ibrahim” (Johari Abdul akui bahawa pelaku dalam video seks ialah Anwar Ibrahim), the video highlights and replays a comment made by the PKR leader when watching the video.
He was seen in this clip as being very friendly with the three men, laughing and joking with them several times during the sex video screening.
The “blood ties” with Shuaib and the fact that he was a former Umno member were also the reasons behind his jovial behaviour in the two-minute clip, explained Johari.
Johari said it was “unfair” that his friendly gestures with the trio as shown in the video clip be construed as him being convinced that it was Anwar in the sex video.
“It’s about friendship..I knew Rahim when I was in Umno and Shuaib is my uncle, you can’t expect me to come with a sour face or frowning..come on,” he said.
Johari also blasted Umno-owned Malay daily Utusan Malaysia which carried the news on its front page today with a headline entitled “Johari did not deny watching the Anwar sex video with Datuk T”.
Johari said he has always been consistent on the issue and had told the public in the past that he did watch the video upon Datuk T’s invitation but never said he agreed the man implicated was Anwar.
Last week, businessperson Shazryl Eskay Abdullah, former Malacca Chief Minister Abdul Rahim Thamby Chik and Shuaib Abdul Lazim were fined a total of RM5,500 for “openly” screening pornographic material to a group of journalists on March 21.
