NFC project takeover 'to cover up PM's mistakes'

The announcement by the government to seek a new company to take over the scandal-ridden National Feedlot Corporation's (NFC) project is a clear attempt to cover up the wrongdoings of the prime minister, PKR said today.

Opposing the move strongly, the party's strategy director Rafizi Ramli said the new tender should not be called without resolving questions of accountability against several top BN leaders who have a hand in the project.

NONE"The core issue is the role of Najib Abdul Razak in awarding the RM250 million project to NFC, although he was well-aware that NFC, the company owned by Shahrizat Abdul Jalil's family members, has no experience in this field.

"Najib has not responded to the issue.

"Instead, his move to open up a new tender shows his intention to overwrite his mistakes," Rafizi said in a statement.

PKR to continue exposing NFC scandals

He also noted that the government's promises to rectify the cattle-rearing project have yet to be fulfilled.

"The PM had announced the freezing of the NFC assets, but the operations, expenditures and asset structure of NFC and its related companies still run as normal.

"Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin had announced the appointment of an independent auditor to probe into NFC.

"But we are not told about the scope of this auditing, who the auditor will be and when the audit report will be tabled in Parliament," he said.

Rafizi expressed fears that these recent announcements were only a 'con job' to identify evidence that could be removed quickly.

"As such attempts are so clear, I have no choice but to continue to expose more scandals in the NFC, starting next week.

"Only with mounting pressure from rakyat will Najib be made accountable for his mistakes, as in the case of Shahrizat Jalil (through her exit from cabinet)," Rafizi added.
