NFC received RM250mil soft loan in full, reveals Pua
DAP national publicity chief Tony Pua today revealed that the National Feedlot Corporation (NFC) has drawn out the full amount of the RM250 million soft loan from the government.
According to NFC’s audit reports, the company had begun receiving the loan in 2008 with an initial amount of RM130 million and by 2009, it had received the full amount of RM250 million.
“RM250 million have been taken from the government, it’s 100 percent drawn down,” said Pua at a press conference at the DAP headquarters in Kuala Lumpur this morning.
The revelation is contrary to Agriculture Minister Noh Omar’s claim made last year that only RM181 million of the RM250 million had been disbursed to NFC.
Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, in a written reply to Parliament on Nov 1 last year, also cited that the same amount had been given to the company.
PKR director of strategy Rafizi Ramli had shortly after the statements accused Najib and Noh of lying.
NFC is tasked to manage the National Feedlot Centre which serves as a beef valley and is supposed to meet 40 percent of the country’s domestic beef demand.
However, NFC, of which the chairperson, Mohamad Salleh Ismail, is cabinet minister Shahrizat Abdul Jalil’s husband, has been accused of misappropriating the RM250 million government soft loan.
