PAS veep Salahuddin Ayub will contest in Johor

Johor born PAS Vice President Salahuddin Ayub has confirmed that he will be contesting in Johor in the upcoming 13th general election, but will let the party leadership decide on whether it will be a state or parliament seat.

Salahuddin said this during a dinner with the media at the Good Hope Hotel, Skudai, last night.

When asked by a reporter which seat he plans to contest, Salahuddin smiled and quietly said, “Pulai, Tanjung Piai or even Batu Pahat seems to be the attractive seats to contest."

Asked to confirm whether he is the Pakatan Rakyat choice for Johor menteri besar should the opposition win the state, he said his intention to contest in his home state was not to covet any post but to strengthen the party.

“The matter of who is to be menteri besar must be decided by the Pakatan Rakyat leadership and the matter has not been raised at all till now,” he said.

His return, added the MP for Kubang Kerian, Kelantan, has the blessings of both Johor and Kelantan PAS was well as the national leadership.

Attending the dinner were PAS Johor chief Mahfodz Mohamed, the three state vice chiefs Zulkefly Ahmad, Mazlan Aliman and Aminulhuda Hassan, state youth chief Suhaizan Kayat and about 20 reporters.

At the dinner, PAS Johor also promised the press exposes at a press conference today, on many long standing controversial land issues yet to be resolved by the BN state government.
