Abdul Rahman Dahlan (BN-Kota Belud) today claimed that Hong Kong’s reputable Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) had quizzed Sabah Chief Minister Musa Aman and other state Umno leaders before declaring that there was no corruption involved in the RM40 million funding for Sabah Umno.
“Two years they investigated, they came down to Sabah and met with Sabah political leaders including the chief minister. No one stopped them or told them not to investigate...
“They came, investigated thoroughly and when the evidence became clear that it was merely political funding, ICAC said okay,” he told Parliament during the committee stage for the budget debate.
He was responding to Lim Kit Siang (DAP-Ipoh Timor) who questioned whether the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) had determined if the RM40 million funds was dirty money from timber kickbacks.

He was responding to Lim Kit Siang (DAP-Ipoh Timor) who questioned whether the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) had determined if the RM40 million funds was dirty money from timber kickbacks.
“There was never any arrest at the airport, or bringing millions in bags or smuggling into Sabah. This is all the imagination of Ipoh Timor. It never happened... There never was any smuggling of physical cash,” he said.
‘PKR Youth triggered investigation’
At this, Tony Pua (DAP-Petaling Jaya Utara) queried how could the ICAC become involved if the money had never originated from Switzerland, transited Hong Kong and destined for Sabah.

“You must remember that the ICAC investigation happened because the PKR Youth chief went to Hong Kong to lodge a complaint... He made a complaint in Hong Kong against Musa and said this money was from corruption, so the ICAC investigated... that is how it started,” he said.
He added that because the opposition had a penchant for praising ICAC as a respectable agency, they should this time accept the verdict of ICAC.
“Today, the ICAC investigation has cleared and proven there was no corruption in the RM40 million for Sabah Umno. But the other side are refusing to recognise it, it’s politics 24-hours-a-day,” he said.
On Oct 11, de facto law minister Nazri Abdul Aziz had told Parliament that MACC had cleared Musa of corruption as the RM40 million fund was a political funding for Sabah Umno and not for personal use.
Last Thursday, Nazri had clarified further that it was the ICAC, too, had found “no elements of corruption” and therefore the MACC also decided not to pursue the matter.
