BN not a democracy but a COMMUNIST system - former dep minister

BN not a democracy but a COMMUNIST system - former dep minister
There is nothing democratic about Barisan Nasional, said a former deputy prime minister, who said the ruling coalition was built upon the communist concept and thrived using Machiavellian principles.
Writing in Harakahdaily today, Yahya Lampong (pic), who now is a PKR member, said BN plans to stay in power in line with the communist principle that it should not be subject to any regime change.
“BN's political system is based on autocracy. The prime minister is both UMNO president and BN chairman. BN contests in general election, not its component parties. They are powerless politically with all (power) centralised in BN,” he said.
Yahya said such a system rendered the prime minister a person with absolute power to decide anything including election candidates and cabinet members.
He said BN's adaptation of the Machiavellian philosophy of 'ends justifying the means' in order to remain in power has led to absolute corruption.
Citing UMNO secretary general Adnan Mansor’s statement in 2010 declaring that BN had over 7 million members, Yahya said this was similar to the communist political system where voters are party members.
“But the situation has changed,” he said, citing the emergence of Pakatan Rakyat to give people the choice to vote BN again at the coming polls - this time as the opposition.
