Be fair to BN, Ku Nan tells pollster

Umno secretary-general Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor has demanded pollster Merdeka Centre to be fair and reveal its sampling methods for the poll that has showed BN’s popularity sliding.

“You must bear in mind how many people were sampled (for the survey). You must ask Merdeka Centre whoever does the survey, the sampling, number of the sampling, who the sample,” said Tengku Adnan on the Tuesday poll.

merdeka center survey bn approval satisfied disatisfied“We have questions about the poll, we want to know how the sampling was done. I mean, they have to be fair to us. Our party has also done surveys,” he said.

“We also know that with BR1M and the RM250 aid (for singles) the people know somewhat that the government is concerned with their needs,” he said at a press conference this morning.

He said his party’s own polls show that the people side with the government, citing how giving out the cash handouts has shown positive results.

“You can see, in my area, when I gave out the RM500 (aid), there were singles.

“And I was most surprised, it is the first time they are receiving RM250, and some of them hugged me because they felt the government was concerned for their problems, for those who earned below RM2,000 and the singles.”

NONEThe handouts are part of Prime Minister Najib Razak’s Budget 2013 aid packages to various sectors, which have been widely criticised aselection goodies.

Despite the handouts, that the government earlier announced should be dished out before the next general election, Merdeka Centre’s latest poll shows that Najib’s popularity continues to slide while dissatisfaction with the PM and BN respectively continue to rise.

Among others, the poll reported that 44 percent are unhappy with BN while the percentage of those who are is below 50 percent and on a downtrend.
