‘Pakatan manifesto preposterous’

Former DAP leader Tunku Abdul Aziz points to Pakatan Rakyat's track record as proof it can never fulfill the new promises in its manifesto.
FMT ALERT
KUALA LUMPUR: Former DAP vice-president Tunku Abdul Aziz Ibrahim today criticised the recently unveiled Pakatan Rakyat manifesto as being “preposterous”, stressing that the promises stipulated would be impossible to deliver.
“The manifesto is preposterous, obviously put together by people who have never managed anything and if they had any experience at all, they would have realised that these promises they made, the incentives that they are dangling before you cannot ever be delivered,” he told a press conference here.
He said that the opposition coalition was playing a “silly game” of one-upmanship with the Barisan Nasional government, and zeroed in on Pakatan’s promise of the RM4,000 household income they hoped to achieve
“They talk about raising the income — they are just following what the government has said but they up all the figures from the government.
“The government figures had been prepared by teams of experts in the treasury, in the economic unit, Bank Negara and so on and so forth.
“But what the Pakatan manifesto is attempting to do is, if the government says RM3,000, they say RM4,000. They are playing silly games,” stressed Tunku Aziz.
He also pointed to the opposition pact’s track record of unfulfilled promises in Selangor as proof that the rakyat should not take the manifesto seriously.
“Where is the assistance you promised for single mothers, and the old people? Even I qualify to ask for some that they promised,” quipped Tunku Aziz.
