Rumours of a haunting have allegedly been turned into political ammunition against the Perak BN government in, reportedly giving its Menteri Besar Zambry Abdul Kadir a good laugh.
Sinar Harian Online reported today that there had been rumours of apocong (zombie) wandering around Kampung Raja Bashah, Kuala Kurau, Perak.
It was as if it is a bad omen to the villagers, that the projects would bring bad luck, it said.
Zambry reportedly responded, saying that the claim “makes no sense and is hilarious”.
He was quoted saying that the allegations show that local Pakatan Rakyat leaders are desperate and running short on ideas, to the extent of playing with superstition to give the state government a bad image.
“Actually the kampung tersusun (planned village) development project in that village is an example of the state government’s concern towards the people’s welfare, when it agreed to build a new settlement once the (villagers’) current location has been taken over for the flood mitigation plan construction.
“The situation in the village now is very different from the time when I visited it for the first time, and I hope the people would evaluate the change that the state government is trying to implement wisely,” he was quoted saying.
