PROBE YAHYA OVER THE CLAIMS OF KICKBACKS

KOTA KINABALU : Pakatan NGO Pro Barisan Nasional (BN) wants the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Agency (MACC) to investigate allegations in a web portal concerning Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Papar parliamentary candidate Datuk Yahya Lampong.

Its President Zulkarnain Mahdar, in lodging the report on Friday, said the Sabahkini.net article warrants investigation as it alleged that Yahya, the former Cement Industries (Sabah) Sdn Bhd (CIS) head, was receiving commissions worth millions of Ringgit every month through a proxy from a Taiwan-based company that supplied clinker and bulk cement.
"The contract agreement worth USD50 million per year is between the company and Cement Industries (Sabah) Sdn Bhd (CIS) is still going on since 2009 until now, according to the portal.

"The article with a letter that certified payment of commission between USD2 and USD3 per metric tonne (of the material) to a woman, believed to be proxy of Yahya, was published in the portal as a proof of the corrupt practice," he said, adding that the portal also claimed the proxy was the third wife of Yahya.

He said they decided to lodge the report since Yahya did not lodge police report to defend himself from the article six days since its publication.

"He has also yet to sue the portal unlike Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim who lodged a report with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to clear his name in an allegation," he said.

Daily Express contacted Yahya for comments but the latter declined comment and dismissed it as mere election talk.
