Lim Kit Siang spoke about 'a great Malaysian dream' at Han Chiang school in Georgetown last night, a dream of a Malaysia full of 'justice, good governance, freedom and in which all are regarded as Malaysians first and last'.
As usual, the DAP stalwart attracted a big crowd but the sentiment he strewed, yet again contained elements of racism, the similar points that former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad labeled him as 'pure racist'.
His 'great Malaysian dream' has been on DAP's agenda over the last 5 decades - equality among all race, regardless of whether the Malays and Bumiputras are left struggling in uplifting their economic standing in rural areas, segregating them from the business-dominant urban-rich Chinese.
Similar to what the British had done to the Malays, Chinese and Indians before Independence, DAP wants to continue with such a policy - the Chinese dominate the urban areas and control the economy, the Malays given their 'kampung' to plant with padi while the Indians have their settlement in the rubber estates.
That's how the British charted 'a great Malaysia'. Remember how the Malays in Singapore were sidelined when the island was part of us?
The justice and equality sought by DAP is nothing but to strip the Malays of their 'little special treatment' provided by the government.
Anwar Ibrahim, who also spoke at the rally, once avowed Pakatan Rakyat's plan to make readjustment to such a policy - the Malays will no longer enjoy discounts and other incentives - to create a 'level playing field for Malaysians'.
I guess Lim has forgotten what prompted May 13, 1969 riots. Anwar, who was the biggest supporter of the New Economic Policy (NEP) and once dubbed as the 'master of subsidy for the Malays' failed to seek balance in his words and doings as he is too much obsessed by his personal dream to become the next prime minister.
Owh... what kind of freedom did Lim mean? A total freedom of the Press, freedom of expression, freedom of speech, freedom of public rally and other social freedom.
However, the 72-year old could not remember the last time DAP held a democratic party election to choose its top leadership because there was never any. So, Lim deserves no rights at all to talk freedom and democracy when his party is totally against it!
And what is 'Malaysian first and last'? Not many understand it but for those who have been through the years, studying and observing what DAP has been propagating, will notice that DAP wants a 'free' Malaysia by amending the Constitution.
DAP would like to do away with three things - the Malays as the majority, Islam as the official religion and Bahasa Melayu as the country's official language.
Worst still, the country could be administered as a republic once the monarchy system is abolished!
That explains why DAP has been inciting Chinese-Malay hatred by telling the Chinese that they are not being treated as 'Malaysians'. In other words, the country still regards them as 'immigrants' from Greater China although they were born and brought up here.
And it also explains why many Chinese still cant speak Bahasa Melayu, including those who were born in Malaysia after Independence!
Malaysia is the only country that permits the 'immigrants' to practice their mother tongue and culture by allowing Chinese and Tamil schools to operate. Five decades of Independence, DAP still harp on the issue, not even thanking the Malays and Bumiputras for their generosity and tolerance.
(However, I personally would like to see an education system where the Malays too are encouraged to take up Mandarin and Tamil lesson at primary level. Language barrier is the main cause of inter-racial prejudice in Malaysia).
DAP has never been a constructive opposition. In other countries, the opposition do not simply oppose to good policies introduced by the ruling parties. They work together in many aspects but in Malaysia, DAP's role is to oppose every single move introduced by Barisan Nasional to uplift the well being of the rakyat and the nation.
Lim's book 'The Time Bombs in Malaysia' is actually the racial time bombs he crafted two or three decades later. It could be around this time!
His 'great Malaysian dream' will also see the demise of a good governance when all basic guidelines for a prosperous and peaceful Malaysia are buried if Pakatan Rakyat wins the 13th general election and forms the next government.
