4 new faces in S'gor exco: Hannah the new Speaker, Nik Nazmi deputy Speaker
Four new faces were among the 10 Selangor state executive councillors sworn in today before the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, at the Istana Alam Shah here.
According to Bernama, they are V Ganabatirau (the state assemblyman for Kota Alam Shah) and former state assembly speaker Datuk Teng Chang Khim (Sungai Pinang) of the DAP, Dr Daroyah Alwi (Sementa) of PKR and Sallehen Mukhyi (Sabak) of PAS.
The six other councillors are Iskandar Abdul Samad (PAS-Chempaka), Dr Halimah Ali (PAS-Selat Kelang), Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi (PAS-Sijangkang), Ean Yong Hian Wah (DAP-Seri Kembangan), Rodziah Ismail (PKR-Batu Tiga) and Elizabeth Wong Keat Ping (PKR-Bukit Lanjan).
The composition of the state executive council was decided on the 3:3:4 formula of DAP and PKR having three representatives and PAS four.
The council has three women, one more than in the last term. The swearing-in of the councillors was witnessed by Shah Alam High Court Judge Datuk Mohamad Zabidin Mohd Diah.
Meanwhile, Malaysiakini reports that DAP’s Hannah Yeoh (Subang Jaya) has made national history as the country’s first ever female state assembly speaker, when the Pakatan Rakyat Selangor government unveiled its new portfolios today.

Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim announced this when he detailed the portfolios of the new exco this morning on his Twitter.

According to his tweet he and the 10 state exco members who have been sworn in at Istana Alam Shah at Klang this morning will be holding the following portfolios:
  • Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim (Pelabuhan Klang, PKR): finance, land development and natural resources management, state economic action council, publicity, Malay custom committee
  • Ahmad Yunus Hairi (Sijangkang, PAS): youth and sports, infrastructure and public amenities
  • Daroyah Alwi (Sementa, PKR): health, entrepreneur development, science, technology and innovation
  • Ean Yong Hian Wah (Sri Kembangan, DAP): investment, industrialisation and trade, development of new villages and of legalisation of illegal factories
  • Halimah Ali (Selat Klang, PAS): education and higher education, human capital development
  • Iskandar Abdul Samad (Cempaka, PAS): housing, building and urban settler management
  • Rodziah Ismail (Batu Tiga, PKR): welfare, women affairs
  • Sallehen Mukhyi (Sabak, PAS): Islamic affairs, agriculture modernisation, rural development
  • Teng Chang Khim (Sungai Pinang, DAP): local government, study and research
  • V Ganapathi Rao (Kota Alam Shah, DAP): estate workers, poverty, caring government
  • Wong Keat Ping, Elizabeth (Bukit Lanjan, PKR): tourism, consumer affairs, environment
