Jayathas Sirkunavelu, Parti Keadilan Rakyat’s human rights and legal bureau deputy chairman will be called in for questioning tomorrow, the 3rd of July 2013 at Ibu Pejabat Polis Dang Wangi.
The questioning is in regards to an incident that occurred on the 26 May 2013, the same day Jayathas accompanied the family of Dhamendran to file a report regarding Dhamendran’s death in custody.
Upon completion of the report, Jayathas exited the station to inform reporters of the family’s progress. As Jayathas attempted to return to the police station, he was denied entry into the police station, surrounded and pushed to the ground by policemen.
Jayathas had filed a police report against the police for their actions whereas policemen had lodged a report against Jayathas, claiming that he had used force.
The questioning will take place at 11am, 3rd of July, at IPD Dang Wangi, Jalan Dang Wangi.
