Sendiri LULUS... sendiri BANTAH ... Salahkan PIHAK LAIN ... maka benarlah ada manusia HIPOKRIT LAGI MUNAFIK mengelilingi UMNO semata-mata untuk mendapat 'keredhaan' pemimpin UMNO..

HUKUM berbunyi bila ada kepentingan pihak tertentu

Masyarakat awam makin KELIRU.- f/bk.

MP lashes out at disgusting RM270 mil spent to hire 360 English mentors...

A DAP Member of Parliament reveals today that the Education Ministry has spent RM270 millions for 360 native English-speaking mentors, or a whooping RM250, 000 a year for each mentor, or RM21, 000 a month just to increase the capacity of local English language teachers.

British Council, Brighton Education Group and SMR HR Group, said Zairil Khir Johari had been contracted as consultants from 2011 to 2013 for the programme, citing a parliamentary reply from the Education Ministry.

“The parliamentary reply further states that a total of 7,500 teachers from 1,800 schools will be trained, with the responsibilities divided geographically (between the three companies),” said the Bukit Bendera MP.

Zairil said the amount spent was absurd and there is no way for the Education Ministry to justify this as reports and feedbacks obtained from the ground said the participants only received ‘mentoring’ for three to four hours a month.

“This immediately brings into question the efficacy of the mentoring programme, as how is anyone expected to master a language, or any subject for that matter, with only three to four hours’ worth of training a month?” he questioned, adding the programme was merely “a three-years paid working-holiday to 360 native English mentors.”

Zairil said it would be cheaper to enrol teachers to properly structured English-language degree programme in a local university that only cost RM24,000 in total or even a six-month diploma course in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) that cost only RM4,500 at a local private college, rather than spending RM270 millions to train 7,500 teachers or RM36,000 per teacher over three years.

“There is absolutely no justification for MOE’s penchant for hiring overpaid consultants, especially when cheaper and better options are readily available,” he stressed.-harakahdaily

cheers.
