Keretapi Taman Melayu Berhad (KTMB) has mobilised 15 buses to ferry passengers stranded by a Komuter derailment near the Rawang station this morning.
A KTMB spokesperson said the buses were to ferry people traveling between Tanjung Malim and Ipoh.
Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad officials expect that the Komuter train that derailed near the Rawang train station this morning will be back on the tracks by 10pm tonight.
"God willing, we'll be done by 10pm. We're about 70% done," KTMB Central Department regional manager Md Rusli Md Nor told reporters here.
He said about 60 KTMB personnel were working to lift the train that slipped off the track at about 10am back onto the tracks.
Md Rusli declined to say what might have caused the derailment to occur, adding that it was still under investigation.
At around 10.15am on Friday morning, the three-coach Komuter Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) travelling from the Serendah station slipped several metres off the track.
The incident occurred less than a kilometre north of the Rawang KTMB station.
Fortunately, none of the 120 passengers on board were injured.
The KTMB spokesperson said Komuter passengers heading north towards Tanjung Malim had to board prepared buses at Rawang and disembark at the Serendah station.
Those heading from Tanjung Malim to Kuala Lumpur had to board buses at Serendah before getting off at Rawang.
Ipoh-bound ETS passengers had to board buses at Rawang that would take them to Tanjung Malim to continue their journey.
KL-bound ETS passengers had to do the same from Tanjung Malim to Rawang.
"We apologise for the incident. We hope that passengers will continue to use our services and have a very nice Deepavali holiday," the spokesperson added.
