At the age of 160, Tok Ayah does not look old. His face has less wrinkled than one thought he should have at his age. His eyesight is still good. His hearing is still clear.
Most amazing, Tok Ayah can still walk for miles.
Believe it or not, Tok Ayah claimed that he has lived through 13 Sultanates who had ruled Kelantan.
He knew the story of Mat Kilau by heart. His experience living under the occupancy of Japan and British is still fresh.
Tok Ayah, or his real name Mohamad Soleh Ali said he had three children during the Japanese occupation.
Only 5 out of 13 his children are still alive. All his 13 wives had passed away.
His kin, Stapa Ismail, 61, said Tok Ayah’s favourite activity is walking.
“He told us he had walked to Johor, Pahang and Terengganu when he was young. Now he still can walk to Pasir Mas,” he said.
PAS Murshidul Am Tuan Guru Nik Aziz Nik Mat had visited Tok Ayah at his home in Kampung Gelugur, Bukit Panau recently.
In the visit, the former Kelantan Menteri Besar presented Tok Ayah with his staff and some cash.
Everyday, Stapa said even Tok Ayah’s children and grandchildren (already aged 60) would not know their grandpa’s whereabouts.
But whenever he returned, he said there would be food in his hand.
“There’s a lot of strange stories on Tok Ayah. What I know since the past till now is he doesn’t have a stable job and only knows how to walk,” added Stapa. - Harakahdaily
