Marijuana plants in KK condo

Police said five individuals were detained under Sections 39B and 6 of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for trafficking and cultivating marijuana plants.
KOTA KINABALU: Sabah police discovered 36 marijuana plants in two condominium units here and arrested three men and two women.
“Based on a tip-off we raided the condominium in Bukit Bendera on Jan 29 and found the marijuana plants in two units.
“Twelve of them had already been cut for processing,” Sabah Police Commissioner Hamza Taib told a press conference yesterday.
“Three local men, in their 20s, a French woman in her 30s and a maid were detained. We also found a 500-gramme packet of the processed drug,” he added.
He said the five were detained under Sections 39B and 6 of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for trafficking and cultivating marijuana plants.
All of them, except the maid, would also be charged under Section 15(1) of the same Act for taking drugs, he said.
“The plants will be sent to the Chemist Department to determine if the seeds used were local or imported,” he said.
