It is unbelievable. But it is true. The President of a Trade Union representing the entire civil service in Malaysia has actually threatened civil servants for not supporting the ruling political party, Barisan Nasional (BN).
When the very head of an institution that was created to defend and fight for its members becomes a turncoat, you know that democracy is dead. It is tyranny.
Will Barack Obama deal with this or would he again choose to look to the contray and sing praise for Malaysia?
Stooges
Yes, BN has harnessed a whole bandwagon of patronizing stooges who do not even wink an eye when the sacrosanct principles of justice and honor are sold for individual glory and positions plus the perks and wages - all under the cloak of seeming patriortism.
It is unbelievable that civil servants are being threatened for participating in a civil society event manifesting their fundamental right to express their opinions in a peaceful and civil manner. For taking part in the May Day rally in the federal capital of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, that saw a well over 50,000 crowd assemble peacefully to say ‘NO’ to GST is now a crime.
And for exercising their basic rights enshrined in the Constitution, the penalty is loss of employment! The head of the union representing almost 2 million civil servants in the country says that anyone who took part in the peaceful assembly will be sacked from his / her employment.
Any civil servant who does not support the ruling political party and or its leaders is seen as anti-government; a traitor committing treason against a nation.
If that be the case, then might as well ban all opposition political parties and just have only BN, lah.
Sneaky BN reveals its use of civil servants to garner votes
In breathing such threats, the mouthpiece-appointees are indeed confirming that BN has been in power all these while using forced civil servant votes, is it not?
Why is it that the appointed leaders cannot make better sense these days? What is so difficult to separate policies made by politicians from the business of government? How come we have reached this stage where a political party cannot be faulted? Which country in the world does not allow employees within government to stand up, in peaceful manner, for their rights as enshrined within the very basic tenets of humanitarianism?
Indeed we have crossed into very dangerous gulleys that seem to only snuff out the lights of decent democracy.
In the wake of what is being stated by the leader of Ceupacs, should the United States of America now review why it wants to do trade with a nation that is practicing what even the USA critically abhors?
So shall we then say that all civil servants must only support BN policies and its leaderships? And by associating themselves with Members of Parliament who happen to belong on the other side of the fence they are guilty of a criminal breach that warrants immediate sacking from gainful employment?
Never mind if the entire family living on the salary of the breadwinner have to suffer. Never mind if the children's education suffers for lack of financial sustenance. For taking part in an exercise that you thought is of critical importance to the future of you and your family's livelihood, you will be now driven out of a job.
Is this not 'kejam'?
Maybe the civil servants should band together and challenge their President in a Court of Law since their Number One captain, the Prime Minister of Malaysia continues to refuse to come to their defense. - MAILBAG
