Flight attendant wanted a grand Raya do

MH17 crew member contacted her father via WhatsApp about 24 hours before the tragedy to post a photograph of her niece.

GEORGE TOWN: The MAS stewardess onboard the ill-fated MH17 flight, Nur Shazana Salleh was planning to have a grand Hari Raya celebration with her family in Bayan Baru here.

The 31-year-old, who joined MAS nine years ago, was also planning to offer Hari Raya prayers at her grandfather’s grave.

Her father, Mohamed Salleh Shamsuddin, said he was trying to digest and accept what has happened.

He said Nur Shazana had contacted him via WhatsApp about 24 hours before the tragedy, asking to post a photograph of her niece.

He added that his family was waiting for updates from MAS on the tragedy.

The MAS plane enroute from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur crashed about 40km from the Russia-Ukraine border.

There were 283 passengers, mostly Dutch, and 15 crew members onboard the Boeing-777 aircraft.
