Secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, commenting on a statement by former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad expressing hope there would not be a no-confidence vote in the Selangor state assembly, said the party's representativs would oppose any such plan.
"DAP has not received any indication that there will be such a motion and we will oppose any no-confidence motion against Azmin," Lim said in a statement.
"DAP’s 15 Selangor assemblymen fully support the PKR deputy president as the new Selangor menteri besar."
Lim said the DAP would focus on assisting Azmin to revive the confidence and support of the people in Selangor.
He said he he had conveyed to PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today his party's commitment to Azmin.
"Azmin should be given solid backing to get on with the business of governing Selangor for the rakyat’s benefit. He need not look over his shoulder every time he carries out his duties," Lim said.
Yesterday, Dr Mahathir said he hoped the majority of Selangor assemblymen would support Azmin, and warned a no-confidence motion to oust him.
