10 houses damaged during Penang freak storm



BALIK PULAU: A freak storm battered the west coast of Penang Island late last night, with some 10 houses damaged.
In what started as light rain at 8.30pm and progressing into a thunderstorms, wind gusts of 30 km/h were reported to swept across few villages.
A man in the 30s was rushed to the hospital after his car was hit by a falling tree.
Balik Pulau Hospital could not confirm the extent of the injuries the victim sustained.
Meanwhile, police and fire department officials say that the worse hit area was Jalan Tun Sardon, followed by Sg Pinang, Pondok Upeh, and Titi Teras. -NST
