Deputy finance minister says the price of RON95 and diesel will most likely be reduced to between RM1.90 and RM1.95 per litre tomorrow.
PETALING JAYA: Looks like Malaysians are in for a New Year bonus if a tweet by the deputy finance minister proves true.
According to Ahmad Maslan, the price of fuel for RON95 and diesel is expected to be reduced further by tomorrow.
In his tweet, Ahmad said, “It is expected that RON95 and diesel will be between RM1.90 – 1.95 per litre starting 1/1/15. Announcement to be made by KPDNKK (Domestic, Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism MInistry).”
In the same tweet, as reported by the New Straits Times as well, Ahmad said, “It is hoped traders will reduce the price of goods!!”
The current price of RON95 and diesel is RM2.26 and RM2.23 per litre respectively after government subsidies were removed and a managed float system implemented.
On December 1, the prices of RON95 and RON97 were reduced by four and nine sen respectively while diesel shot up 3 sen causing an uproar among opposition politicians who demanded more transparency from the government in regard to how the managed float system was being used to determine prices at the pump.
