No Piped Water In Kota Bharu Since 25th December 2014 !!

I received this sms from Kota Bharu just a while ago :

 

• Salam Syed..saya dari Kota Bharu. Mangsa banjir yang di dera oleh pihak ulil amri...punca air paip ditutup dan bantuan makanan tidak  sampai...sejak 4 hari..bayangkan sendiri situasi!!
• Harap ulas isu yang amat penting iaitu putus bekalan air paip sejak 4 hari - 25hb Dis...di Kota Bharu ..banjir bukan isu lagi...air paip adalah isu utama..

I hope the media and Press pick up on this issue.

 I can imagine a whole host of reasons. The water treatment plants may be flooded, the intake points on the river may be choked with mud, logs and tree trunks and debris etc.

Bottom line is there is no potable piped water in Kota Bharu since 25 December ie FOUR days already.

People are saying this bad weather is going to prevail. 

Keretapi Tanah Melayu has cancelled rail services to the East Coast for the past week. They say rail services may not resume until end January 2015. Many rail bridges (in the hundreds), railway stations, rolling stock and tracks have been submerged or washed away by floods. All these must be repaired and checked before trains can run again.

People will not die if there are no train services. But without fresh water life will be very difficult. Disease will soon start spreading (cholera, dysentery etc).

The floods this time are pretty bad. Beyond our expectations. I hope the authorities look into the unavailability of fresh piped water.

Water is a state matter - also in Kelantan. The PAS state gomen will not be able to do much on their own. Handling real life issues is not a priority for them.

It is also not likely that they will ask the Federal government for help - they are too stupid and arrogant.

N'theless the people must be helped. The Federal government has to go in and fix the immediate water problem.  People are suffering.
